The first Warri International Film Festival: five days of screenings and awards, with 23 films competing in 11 categories. Break of Dawn won seven awards.

About this event

The first Warri International Film Festival ran from 8 to 12 December 2025, founded by the filmmaker Alex Eyengho to bring film-making back to Warri. It opened with SUKY, directed by Ola Cardoso, and closed with Break of Dawn.

Twenty-three feature and short films competed in 11 categories. Break of Dawn, produced by Temisan Ereyitomi and directed by Umanu Elijah, won seven awards, including best feature film, best director, best actor and best actress. The Cameroonian film Dead Man's Wish won best screenplay, and Love from Bayelsa best short film.
