Who we are
Discover Delta is a storytelling platform about Delta State, Nigeria, at discoverdeltang.com. If you have a question about your data, contact us on WhatsApp (0913 048 6169) or at hello@discoverdeltang.com.
What we collect, and why
We only collect what you choose to send us through a form, and we use it for the reason the form gives:
- Investment desk: your name, email and what you're interested in, plus anything optional you add, so we can reply and make introductions you ask for.
- List your event: your event's details, your name and email. We publish the event details once checked; we don't publish your email or phone number.
- List your business: your business details and a WhatsApp number for customers, which we publish on your listing with your consent, plus your name and email, which we don't publish.
- Share your story: your story, any photos, the name you'd like credited and your email. We publish the story, photos and credit only with your consent; we don't publish your email.
- Diaspora network, merch waitlist and weekly email: your email, and for the diaspora network your name, city and country, to send you the updates you signed up for. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Contact and advertising enquiries: your name, email and message, to reply to you.
- Checkout (when the shop opens): your name, email, phone and delivery address, to deliver your order. Card payments are handled by Paystack; we never see your card details.
What the site stores in your browser
If you add merch to your bag, the bag is saved in your browser's local storage so it's still there when you come back. It stays on your device and isn't sent to us until you check out.
We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and we don't currently use analytics. If that changes, we'll update this page first.
Other services our pages use
When a page loads, your browser fetches fonts from Google Fonts and icons from jsDelivr, which means those services receive your IP address. Tapping a WhatsApp link opens WhatsApp, which is run by Meta under its own privacy policy. When the shop opens, payments will be processed by Paystack.
Before launch we'll name the service that receives our form submissions and sends our emails.
Our legal basis
We process your data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023. Most of it we process with your consent, which you give when you send a form, or because we need it to do what you asked, such as replying to you or delivering an order.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries only as long as we need them to reply and follow up. We remove you from email lists when you unsubscribe, and we take down a published story, photo or listing if you ask us to.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, stop using it, or give you a copy. You can withdraw your consent at any time. To do any of these, contact us on WhatsApp or by email.
If you're not happy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Children
Discover Delta isn't aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect children's data. If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before sending us anything.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when anything changes, and change the date at the top.
