Asaba hosted the 21st African Championships in Athletics from 1 to 5 August 2018 at Stephen Keshi Stadium. Around 800 athletes from 52 African countries took part.
Kenya topped the medal table with 11 golds. The stadium is named after Stephen Keshi, the late Super Eagles captain and coach.
